About This Project

The kitchen renovation of this farming family home (including window seats with storage) was designed by Trudy at Van Beek Design, then manufactured and installed by Fine WoodWorking Ltd.

Doors, drawers and panels are in the traditional shaker style, finished with a Polyurethane lacquer in Resene ¼ Sisal. Matai from the client’s own farm was used for the timber benchtops, plinths and cornices. Several work surfaces were used: A stainless steel sink and hob bench in linen finish, Caesarstone “Emperadoro” on the island and of course, the Matai. And completing this kitchen makeover are antique brass knobs.

Don’t be fooled by this understated style. Behind the classic exterior, lies modern hardware and gadgets, such as a platform mechanism that lifts the cake mixer up and out of the cupboard to useable height.
